The Beach Cafe, located on Locust and Shelby in Miller, has been open since the 1940's. It's a well-known restaurant in the area especially for it's boned and buttered lake perch. It's been through several owners and a lot of changes but is still great to this day. I worked at the Beach Café for about 6 years. When I was 16, my mom talked to Doug Wymer about getting me a job as a bus girl after I, suddenly and without notice, quit my job grocery bagging at Ralphs. lol He was a little apprehensive at first but I ended up staying until I was 22. I started as a bus girl, got all of my friends to join me and be my busgirl super team. Ended up cooking and finally waitressing. I learned so much working there and I feel like I am a part of it's history.
